Live Date: Brighton, The Great Escape - 12th May 2012

Very excited to be travelling down to Brighton for The Great Escape Festival!

“Seen by many as the region’s brightest young singer-songwriter, The Lake Poets, aka. Martin Longstaff and his band of musically inclined friends have spent the last 12 months building a reputation for their live performances, having shared the stage with the likes of Willy Mason, Ben Howard and Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly.

A multitude of gigs have clearly matured a sound that wears well with age, allowing experience, regret, and the resulting learned wisdom to soak deep into each beautifully fragile bar. Longstaff’s ability to touch an audience with his odes to Sunderland and his honest and personal songwriting have created a buzz too strong to be ignored by the likes of 6Music, Amazing Radio and countless promoters up and down the country and The Lake Poets’ popularity has culminated in a sold out show at prestigious venue The Sage Gateshead.

Debut single ‘City by the Sea’ was released in April – a record that deals with differing states of place and mind, coming together to reach a lasting level of harmony. Where the land meets the sea, the warmth meets the cold, the ocean meets the sky - it is in this delicate crossover that Longstaff claims life is at its brightest and most visible, allowing one to reach a sense of contentment.”
